Boat Overview
Delphi is a lovely example of the legendary Aquastar 38 Ocean Ranger. This boat is perfectly suited for weekend or extended cruising, as well as for enjoying a leisurely afternoon in the sun at anchor. It features a very sociable layout, with an aft cockpit that has in-fill cushion seating, accommodating up to 10 adults.
Capability
As an Aquastar, she is more than capable of handling changing conditions at sea. Notably, two Aquastar 38’s circumnavigated Britain just last year, completing the journey in less than a month.
Maintenance and Recent Works
Delphi has been fully serviced and maintained, benefiting from a thorough overhaul in the last few years. Highlights of recent works include:
- Electronic throttles new in 2023
- New copper coat applied in 2023
- Replaced through-hull skin fittings & sea cocks in 2023
- Engines removed for overhaul – clean coolers, new engine mounts, couplings & shaft seals in 2023
- Engine bay cleaned while engines were out
- Props and shafts removed, cleaned, and new cutlass bearings fitted in 2023
- New prop shafts fitted in 2023
- New hydraulic hoses to gearboxes in 2023
- Replaced anode studs and bonding wires in 2023
- New batteries, battery cables & battery charger in 2023
- New alternators for the engines in 2023
- Prop speed applied on shafts, props, trim tabs & P-brackets in 2023
- New fire extinguisher fitted in engine room, including trace hose around engine room & wire in alarm in 2023
- New galley gas hobs with alarm and combi microwave in 2020
- Raymarine Axiom plotter at the lower helm
- Lewmar bow thruster
- 12 volt USB charging ports throughout & 240v sockets
- New fuel tanks in 2018 made of stainless steel with extra inspection lids
- Sinergex 1500w 240v inverter
- Raymarine radar, autopilot & tri data; Icom M423G DSC VHF
Engine Specifications
Delphi is powered by a pair of Caterpillar 3116’s, producing 350hp each, with approximately 1300 hours on each engine. Extensive attention has been lavished on her mechanicals, regardless of cost.
Layout of Delphi
In the forward cabin, you have a Twin V berth with hanging lockers. There is a bunk bed cabin to port. A heads to starboard includes a WC, sink & shower. Also to starboard is a fully-fitted galley, equipped with an oven, combined fridge, and freezer, making her perfectly suited for longer stays aboard. The helm is to port with a helm seat & fridge under the seat. The navigator’s seat is to starboard. Sofas are located to port and starboard in the saloon, with the starboard sofa pulling out to make a bed. Access to the engines is under the saloon floors. The cockpit provides ample seating, with a center rear cockpit gate leading to the aft platform. The flybridge is accessed by a ladder from the cockpit.
